Nellie L. McClung (1873-1951) was an internationally celebrated feminist and social activist whose success as a platform speaker was legendary. Her earliest notoriety was achieved as a writer, and during her lengthy career she authored four novels, two novellas, three collections of short stories, a two-volume autobiography and various collections of speeches, articles and wartime writing, to a total of sixteen volumes. All this served as a pulpit from which McClung could preach her gospel of feminist activism and social transformation. She was convinced that Gods intention for Creation was a Fair Deal for everyone; and that Canada, particularly the prairie West, was a perfect place to begin to bring that about. Although liturgical tradition in Reformed churches is a frequently probed subject, information in certain aspects of the field is limited. To alleviate this situation, Dr. Hageman places major emphasis in this book on some lesser known areas of Reformed worship. At the same time he touches on highlights of Reformed liturgical history, particularly the relative significance of sermon and sacrament. The importance of Zurich's contribution to Reformed tradition is comparatively unrecognized. As Dr. Hageman states, Know it or not, down to relatively recent times the Reformed churches have, practically speaking, acknowledged Zwingli as their liturgical master. This he attributes in part to the fact that when Calvin came to Geneva five years after Zwingli's death, he found the Zurich point of view too firmly entrenched there to be materially changed. Additional territory unfolds with an examination of the dark age of Reformed Protestantism - the period between the closing of the Westminster Assembly of Divines and the advent of Schleiermacher. An impartial observer surveying the liturgical life of late eighteenth century Reformed churches could have justifiably concluded that it was nearly finished. Pointing out that signs of recovery were already visible, the author notes that these churches were on the verge of a liturgical development that was to prove more productive than any in their history. Dr. Hageman concludes with a discussion of theories which should undergird and test any liturgical developments in Reformed churches. A primary factor here is the principle that pulpit and table are inseparable parts of a single whole. He emphasizes, however, that if the Reformed churches really understand their position, they have every reason for being liturgically fresh and creative. Their liturgy must seek to establish models, not rigid requirements. Concise yet comprehensive, this treatment of liturgical history is valuable for pastors and students of church history. Concerned laymen, including organists, choir directors, and choir members, will find it a useful aid in understanding worship patterns of Reformed churches.

In the introduction, the author reflects on why no sustained attempt has hitherto been made to investigate one of the formative cultural influences on modern 'Anglo-Welsh' literature, the Nonconformist inheritance. The importance of addressing this strange and significant cultural deficit is then explained, and a preliminary attempt made to capture something of the spirit of Welsh Nonconformity. The succeeding chapters address and seek to answer such questions as: What exactly did the Welsh chapels believe and do? Why have the English-language writers of Wales, from Caradoc Evans and Dylan Thomas to R.S. Thomas and the authors of today, been so fascinated by them? How accurate are the impressions we've been given of chapel life and chapel people in the English-language poetry and fiction of Wales? The answers offered may alter our views both of the Welsh Nonconformist past and of Welsh writing in English. One of the ideas advanced is that many of Wales' most important writers went to war with the preachers in their texts, and that their work is therefore the site of cultural struggle. Theirs was a war in words waged to determine who would have the last word on modern Welsh experience.

HAVE THE PULPIt IN THE JUDEA-CHRISTIAN CHURCH LOST ITS RELEVNACE Historical and contemporary evidence reveals there are more Christian Churches in the United States of America than any other nation, and there is a pulpit in each of these churches, but it evident the messages being preached from each Church is not the same as God has ordained. It is not that Americans do not know where the local churches are located, and what Jesus Bride, the Judea-Christian Church was established by Him to be the Salt of the earth, that is seasoning power to encourage godly living, for this was demonstrated in living colors during 9-11-2000 during a vicious attack on our nation by our sworn enemy radical Islam; for three months the local Judea-Christian churches were capacity filled ever Sunday morning for regular worship services. Criminal activity inside and outside the correction systems was reframed, but as soon as it was realized that America was not going to be destroyed in the foreseeable future, you guessed it, we returned to our corrupt and criminal conduct. As I travel our nation, I visit local Christian churches and here the men and women preaching from behind the pulpit, but the messages being preached are not at all in many instances the message God has ordained for the healing our nation. What, Why, When, Where, and How did we allow false preaching to become acceptable from behind Gods consecrated pulpit in the Judea-Christian Church? The results are NO JESUS CHRIST, NO CHRISTIAN CHURCH; NO CHRITIAN CHURCH, NO OBLIGATION TO GOD. The Judea-Christian communities have began to ignore the Holy Bible, Gods inerrant Word, and is replaced with entertainment instead of worship and praise unto God, and the Word o God has been watered down to meet the standards of the world. It is imperative that the pulpit in the Judea-Christian Church return to preaching the gospel as God has ordained, for only the Word of God can change the heart-mind of men, women, boys, and girls from the flesh desires to the desires of the Holy Spirit.

The services are lack luster, he is approaching burn out and he questions his call to a pulpit ministry. George just toughs it out thinking it to be more godly. Saturday night is repetitively panic time and Sunday often brings excuses. George does not understand that he might need more preparation than does his sermons.What makes the difference?Frank recognized his need for help, and found a mentor. He learned to establish the purpose of the sermon first, match it with divine inspiration and have others help gather materials. This reduced preparation time, balanced his work schedule, family time, self-care and sermon preparation. By working on his illustrations and delivery, he could take a lesser quality sermon and turn it into a great event.
